Our mirror (no MirrorMate frame yet) is secured by clips at the top and caulk at the bottom between the mirror and a ledge. When we install the MirrorMate frame, if we position it at the top of the caulk we will have a gap between the bottom of the frame and the top of the ledge, the height of the caulk. If we position the frame at the top of the ledge, there will be a gap between the mirror and the frame at the bottom, some fraction of the width of the caulk. Which is the correct way to install?

What are the measurements for the caulk? How much space is between the ledge and the mirror? If it is less than 2" You can place one of our larger frames on the ledge and it should cover just fine.

It is a very small bead of silicone caulk, but it projects out beyond the surface of the mirror. Picture a capital "L" with the corner filled in. The mirror surface is the vertical line of the "L". If the frame sits on the base line of the "L", it will be spaced out from the surface of the mirror by the width of the bead. This will put a gap between the mirror and the frame.

Okay I understand now. How far does it project out? Our frames are made to sit over Channels and Clips, so as long as it is less than 1/4" higher than the surface of the mirror, you can say the frame has clips or channel on the bottom, and we will router out the outer edge to sit over the caulk.

Thank you! The caulk bead projects less than a quarter inch. It sounds as if this is a special operation for you. Is there a way to mention this in our order?

Yes, when you order after you enter the measurements, you will be asked if you have clips or channel and if so, on what sides. Select that you have clips or channel on the bottom. this will ensure we router off the outside edge. Let us know if you need more help!
